The Leaning Tower of Niles is just 15 minutes away from the O’Hara airport in Chicago, Illinois. The close proximity to such a popular airport makes it a well-known tourist attraction. This is a half-size replica of The Leaning Tower of Pisa located in Italy. Bob Ilg constructed the tower in 1934 to hide a water filtration system but built it with concrete to keep its shape. The tower, according to its informational plaque, was built to honor the late scientist Galileo. In the 1990s, a plaza was built around the tower to include a reflection pool.
If you've never been to the real tower of Pisa, this is the next best thing you can find. It is a unique roadside attraction worth the visit if you want to take a fun picture.
